ABOUT
The Virginia Chapter of the Association of Public-Safety Officials International (APCO) is a member driven association of public safety communications professionals. In addition to providing leadership, promoting professional development and fostering the development and use of technology benefiting those who access 9-1-1 and other emergency services, the Virginia Chapter of APCO is committed to recognizing those in the industry of public safety communications as professionals and establishing industry leading standards, training and technological advances.

Established in 1959, the Chapter represents over 1,000 APCO members in the Commonwealth of Virginia and is the third largest APCO Chapter in the nation. The majority of its members are deployed in the field of public safety communications throughout 9-1-1 Centers and/or law enforcement, fire, emergency medical services, and related public safety agencies. Commercial members represent a wclasse variety of firms that support public safety communications and the technologies that allow our communications centers to operate efficiently.

The Chapter has a rich history of provclassing training and promoting development through conferences and other training programs. In cooperation with the Virginia Chapter of the National Emergency Number Association (NENA) and Virginia Office of Public Safety and Homeland Security, the Chapter coordinates and co-hosts an annual Public Safety Communications Conference and Exposition each fall.

The Virginia Chapters of APCO and NENA also jointly host a Winter Session and a Spring Conference annually. Membership in the Virginia Chapter derives from membership in APCO International based on resclassence and/or employment location.
