Emergency Medical Dispatch PSAP Update
In the 2020 General Assembly, House Bill 727 made January 21, 2022 the deadline for Telelcommunicator CPR (tCPR) implementation by 9-1-1 Centers/Public Safety Answering Points (PSAP). As a result, the Spring 2021 Rescue Squad Assistance Fund (RSAF) Grant will be the last opportunity to apply for financial assistance in making this transition before the deadline. The period of performance for the current RSAF Grant cycle is 12 months, beginning July 1, 2021, which only allows six months for implementation prior to the tCPR deadline. As tCPR is a subset of Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) protocol, an agency that implements EMD would be compliant with both the 2021 tCPR and 2024 EMD requirements. Many agencies have utilized the RSAF Grant process to assist in funding EMD implementations at 9-1-1 centers through the Commonwealth.
